420 day - world cannabis day

What is 420 Day? It seems the first time the term “420” was used was in San Rafael, California in 1971. A group of teens used to hang outside of school and search for an abandoned crop of cannabis—and they would always meet at 4:20 p.m. In the end, 4:20 became code for smoking marijuana.

Now a counterculture holiday in North America and throughout the world, many weed-lovers smoke on April 20. Some smoke publicly as a protest —They want their grass legalized, at least for medical reasons. Others just smoke pot because they want to. Observances take place worldwide, with some of the biggest ones in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the University of Colorado, in Vancouver, British Columbia and other places.

Our contributor wrote: People enjoy marijuana smoke during the celebration of 420 annual Smoke Cannabis Day at Hyde Park London capital of Britain, 20 April 2012. More than 500 people attend at Hyde Park to smoke marijuana to take part in the 420 annual Smoke Cannabis Day. This day annually celebrates in April 20 at 4.20 pm.
